What is Trézor.io/Start®?

Trézor.io/Start® is the official onboarding portal for all Trézor devices. It ensures that you are downloading authentic software, initializing your device correctly, and understanding how to store your recovery seed securely. This prevents counterfeit apps or phishing attacks from compromising your funds.

Step 1 — Unbox and Connect

Inside your Trézor box you’ll find the device, a USB cable, and recovery seed cards. Connect the device to your computer using the original cable and go to Trézor.io/Start®. Follow the on-screen instructions to download Trézor Suite.

Step 2 — Install Firmware

When first connected, your Trézor will ask you to install the latest firmware. This step ensures the device is genuine and up to date. Confirm the process on the device screen before continuing.

Step 3 — Create a New Wallet

Choose “Create new wallet” in Trézor Suite. You’ll be guided to generate a recovery seed—a list of 12, 18, or 24 words. This is the most important backup of your wallet. Write the words down on the recovery card provided and store it offline, away from cameras and internet-connected devices.

Step 4 — Set a PIN

Set a strong PIN code on your Trézor device. This adds an additional layer of protection if your device is ever lost or stolen. Always confirm each digit directly on the device’s screen to prevent tampering.

Step 5 — Add Accounts

Once secured, open Trézor Suite and add accounts for Bitcoin, Ethereum, or any other supported asset. The interface provides a clear dashboard to monitor balances, track activity, and manage multiple cryptocurrencies securely.

Step 6 — Receive and Send Crypto

To receive funds, generate a receiving address in Trézor Suite and confirm it on the device screen. For sending, input the recipient address and amount, then verify and approve directly on your Trézor device. This ensures transactions cannot be altered by malware.
